gridfluid emitter initial state

Hello All,
Couple of newbie RF question.
Can one set an initial state on a gridfluid emiter? I have a pool of water which I'd like to fill with pouring water from another emiter (both emiters are grid emitters).
Also is there a way to share fluid domain across an emitter. I would've like to create two lower resolution domains instead of one domain with very high resolution.
Any links or examples would be great......Thnx
