Looking for hints on how to do this....

Hello,
I am new to AF and need to start doing motion graphics. Basically I want to be able to make videos like this
http://vimeo.com/12677264 . I need to do a similar video by Wednesday next week.
I know I won't find an exact tutorial for this video (or is there one somewhere?) but I will be very thankful if I can get tips on how to pull this off. What would be the main points I should focus on learning in a tutorial. (masking, parenting, etc)
I know Flash, Illustrator, Maya and very basic AF. Just begun learning yesterday through the basic tutorial in this site.

Any kind of tips are welcome.:bow

You're in luck! We have a similar course: Animating Illustrator Logos in After Effects (http://www.digitaltutors.com/09/training.php?cid=26&pid=326). It looks like the motion graphics you linked could be created using similar steps to the one in this course.
