You can charge the max screen and viewports back to the old style Go to customize custom UI and defalut switcher i think it max newier you have a lot more options.... once you have this done click set and max will set it to what you want don't keep swapping the color of the viewport it can crash max look in the preview window and it will show you what the viewport will look like
