Camera Registration Tips?

In real life, when you are measuring a camera distance to the subject and the height of the camera in regards to the floor. Shooting the BG pass on my digital camera

You are measuring on what part of the camera? The outermost part of the lens to the subject or the center of mass of the camera to the subject?

Trying to do this in Maya for my 3D shot.

Hi UncleMito,

I would say that the most accurate measurement would be to your lens' nodal point. Although if you measure from the same location every time (the front of lens or back of camera), you should be able to figure out an offset to get the correct value. So for length, it's the nodal point or the position of the aperture inside your lens, and for height it's the center of your lens.
