Hello Guys,
sry for my bad bad bad Englisj but Iam german.
So, my problem is: When i want to render a Scene with mr and i have activated the Production Quality and the Caustics, i cant render my scene. There comes everytime a Attention: Emitt Photons error. Or so.
Then Mental Ray is going to cancel, and i must close Maya. I cant render with the Batch render over the Windows Command Inserer (line). The Caustics are Standart Settings i have one light into the scene that emit photons with standart settings. the complete scene plays in a Sphere. The Underground is a Plane. When i have load a HDR picture into the ambiet colozr channel of the sphere, comes the messages "Mental Ray out of Memory" and abort.
Pls Help me and sorry for the terrible english.

What are your machine specs? and whats in your scene as to geometry etc.

Can you set up your render settings beforehand and than use the right click mouse button on the file name and render from there??? That way you save some resources and maybe your scene will render without errors. In some cases this render method handled my heavier scenes.

Hi Nojoy,
That is great tool that I didn't know.
It only works with maya render.
Is there a way to render with mentalray?

Thank you

You can do a batch (.bat) render script (do a search on the forums, we've talked about it before) - but when you do the right-click "render" option, it should pick up on whatever settings/renderer you have chosen in your scene when you last saved it.

I'm having the same kind of problem. My mental ray does not render past 10 frames in a batch render. It also says "render completed"...strange

Nojoy...what exactly do you mean about "right click mouse button on the file name and render from there"

where exactly do you mean?

this problem is driving me crazy...Ive tried nearly everything but still the same result...10 frames

Not to steal Nojoy's thunder, but what he means is in Windows Explorer or Finder, if you right-click on your Maya scene file, there is a render command. Hit that, and it'll be the same as doing a simple "render" command from the command prompt....only faster. :)

um by the way, is there something else you should setup before rendering?
the reason I ask is because if i render by right clicking the file my images come out alot darker and not the same as when I render from out of Maya.

I am using mental ray with only raytracing on...
