I am relatively new to 3D. Here is a render of an old shack I did using Maya 9.0 with Mental Ray. I used the lighting setup similar to the one used for the Cartoon Car video (Which, by the way is an excellent tutorial) Since I am self-taught, any advice is appreciated. I find that my renders are a little softer than I would like them to be. Any advice on sharpening them up in Maya?

Thanks.

I don't know about the render itself looking soft. You might just need to increase the sampling in mental ray if things don't look very defined. If its textures that look soft then it could be because whenever you create a file texture in maya it applies a filter to it. I always go into file texture node go into the effects tab and turn the filter down from 1 to .01 and that way it'll sharpen up your textures.
Anyway I'm not an expert but thats just some of my personal experiences. It's looking really cool though :)
