render man tutorial help

hey guys. Ive been follow the renderman for maya tutorial on custom shaders and i have a problem that i need help with. when i type my mel code for the shader note pad wont allow me to save my file in the .sl format it only allow me to save it in .txt. i even have edit text and it doesnt have the .sl format as an option to save in. So i cant continue the tutorial until i figure out how to save in the .sl format. Is there away to download new extension options to save in note pad or edit plus? please help me.

Hi blakamation,

In notepad, go to Save As, then change the 'Save as type' to 'All Files' and then type your file name in as whatever your material is.sl. This should let you save out a .sl file and then you can just click save from then on.
