i just wanted to know the difference between the two.

If im saying this right i hope so. Ep is kinda a straight point to point line creater.A cv is more like a guessing curve thing.The cv will allow you to create smoother curves with less points. if this isnt very close plese let me know so i can understand it better. im very new so i just thought ide give it a shot..

What matters is that once you hit enter, it is exactly the same thing which ever tool you used. You have a NURBs curve. The difference is the way maya interpolates between each EP and CV. You could do a google search and find lots of theory of exactly what each does, but it would be more benificial to import a random picture with lots of lines and try to trace them using each curve. After you do that look at the curve's CVs and see how they are spaced apart. (Remember you want CVs in the areas of highest curvature).
