hi all

i am trying to batch render something in maya 8 and the progress message dont seem to be working any more for some reason?!? even when i change the translation option to detailed message i dont get much at all, in fact all i get is

% of render in done 0

then doing frame X whatever 1, 2, 3...

also

i am doing it on dual core, 64 bit machine, no the 64 bit is nice as it fast and i dont belive that u need to "activate" anything to make it work but, the dual core seems to be asleap, once rendering has started it sits at 50%, and in the task manager -> performance it shows one processor getting hammered while the ither is having a day offf?!?!!

In the batch render options i have set it to 2, but im not sure what this is really as i have read what i could find in the docs and got confuzzeled

////////////////////////////////////////////////

This command sets the number of threads to be used by Maya in regions of code that are multithreaded. By default the number of threads is equal to the number of logical CPUs, not the number of physical CPUs. Logical CPUs are different from physical CPUs in the following ways:

A physical CPU with hyperthreading counts as two logical CPUs
A dual-core CPU counts as two logical CPUs

not really understanding that :confused:

Woah!!! long thread!:P

if anyone could point me i the correct direction it would be greatly apprectated

Thanks

ok, i had the same problem too...papa helped me saying that this mentalray that comes for free on maya 8 it aint full, some features wont work....i heard they introduced catmullclark also, but that doesnt work even...so that's the problem...

//////

go to my computer, right click, propriets, hardware, management, and under processors check if there's two of ur dual core....if not, right click, update and install...(when i mean install, search for the otherone) mine worked..
