View Full Version : fingers wont bind!
Hi there,
I made the rig from the charactor setup in maya DVD, made my own mesh, the fingers are kinda thinish... anyway i place the bones in the fingers , they stick out abit as the joints are bigger then the mesh, when i bind the fingers arent holding the mesh , im using smooth bind in maya...
any ideas?
Thanks
sTu

hi...
`ok the answer if anyone else has this problem...turns out if the joint is even a little bit bigger then the mesh it wont bing , so i made the joint radias smaller and all good!`
joint radius has nothing to do with the mesh thickness... u can even bind a 100 cm sphere or a 100 radius joint to a very tiny curve/mesh or any transform node which has a shape node under it....
make sure that the u have selected the required no of joints and then shift select the mesh and apply skin with 'select influences' in settings... moreover.. i hope u r talking about the default skin which is applied to the mesh which is not always the way we want it...
another thing.. a joint is has a pivot and a transform node and its independent node as anyother node, while a bone is drawn between 2 joints and a bone does not have a transform node nor a pivot, and its dependent on the joint from which it is drawn.
pls ck once more and give me some feedback...
