View Full Version : Samurai Armor and weaponry WIP
Well guys, i wanted to do this a long long time ago, but i was so scared of the details it needs to include, decided to give it a try, helmet model is ''done'' might need to add some small details later i really dont know at the moment, anyhow here are some snapshots and a render cause i started texturing that helmet, hope you guys like it, please bear with me on the render, cause for some reason my pc temp is climbing rapidly so i have to bump the render quality down untill i get a better power suply...
Cheers guys !!!

Great work on those shaders. This is awesome.
I am not saying I don't like the "horns", but they're maybe just a little too smooth. You mentioned you're planning to add more detail, so the horns might be a good place to start.
tnx, yeah im gonna damage the horns a bit, with scratches and stuff, tnx for the nice comment :D

Excellent model. I am looking forward to seeing your progress as you add the damage detail to the horns. Although in my opinion it already looks great, and perhaps the only thing missing is a bump map for those horns.
thanks mate, the helmet horns in that period were usually copper forged and beaten into shape, gonna need to add some bumpiness and iregularity to them so they would look more natural... this is not what consernes me tho, the rest of the samurai armor is just plain nuts with details, thats gonna be a tough job to do :D
Cheers !!!
model of the smallest of the three swords samurai usually have with them is almost done, tanto with very basic handle, im gonna have to figure out how to do the amazing detail they have on their swords, Cheers guys.

Real curious what you will make out of this one. Looks very promising.
tnx mate, its going to have to wait a lil, il just continue modeling the parts but cannot render anything, my pc is nuts after that power charge i got, it owerheats at the slightest hard working it has to do lol...

Did you steal the katana in my living room for this?! Hehe, j/k. I love it so far.
hah :D tnx man im glad you like it, i think im gonna tweak some stuff a lil more on it, and then its basicly copying and tweaking/resizing to get all three swords the tanto, wakizashi and the katana.
Cheers !!!

nice i like it . and i have a suggestion if u don't mind :D , because looks to me u have a good modeling skils so far in maya so why dont u think about Zbrush for adding details to ur models ! u know something like the sword or the helmet u modeled u just export it to zbrush as low poly then let the magic of sculpting begin ;) . it's like drawing on ur models and believe me it's really easy to learn (i modeled a sword like urs lomg time ago and u can't believe how much details i was able to add in zbrush ( MILLIONS+ of polygons )! '' believe it or not i used to have a good skills in zbrush but not any more :( '')
anyway good luck man
Cheers :beer
tnx mate, yeah i love zbrush to :D, but gonna wait till i have the time and model all the parts of the armor and weaponry that i want to and then take em in zbrush to add some details.
Cheers :D
