If you need to model the eagle you should get DTs modeling CDs for the creature and maybe even the UV mapping and Texturing. When I go to model something like an eagle, I prefer to go back and forth from polys to subDs because you can see how your project looks smoothed, and then you can also see if there are any bad spots in your modeling. Once you're done checking in the SubD mode you can convert back to Polys having the exact same number of polys and shape as you left it. Just make sure that in the Convert SubD to Poly Option Box, you have the vert mode selected and set it to 0 if you don't want anything added. Set verts to 1 if you want it to add the minimum amount of smoothness to your model. It still looks great with the minimum usually. If what you need is to just animate the Eagle, you should get Digital Tutor's Skeletal Setup CD. Trust me, I have it and it will make life so much easier when you go to actually animate with their rig. If that's not what you're looking for, and your just looking for the poses for an eagle, I would try drawing out the flight cycle, which really isn't that bad, and do it from front and profile views, and possibly even top view to see how the movement would occur. Plus, it helps you visualize the actual animation process. Then you can use those actual poses you created in your drawings as your positions to setup the character. Heck, if you wanted to try this, you could even create the actual animation with blend shapes. Be creative in how you choose to animate. Don't just go with one approach to do any thing. Think of all the different possibilities in which the flight of an eagle can be made interesting. I'm mainly adding this part if your main character is an eagle. If not it's still something you can think about.

I would check out turbosquid.com because they have a lot of things like that.
