so i have my domain name. i got it with gemstream. so now im goin through the setup process in dreamweaver but i'm stumped at the How do you want to connect to the server. I don't know my FTP login info. gemstream never gave it to me and i dont recall it asking for it when i was setting up my domain name. So how do i get that login information? or do i even use an FTP connection? please help

I also noticed that in the building your website in Dreamweaver tutorial, they said that there would be a lesson where they would walk you through the steps in setting up your own domain. I did not see any lessons with that information. probably would've been very helpful though.

If you have a hosting plan with gemstream then they should be able to provide you with your FTP account login details. If you just registered a domain name with gemstream but did not get a hosting plan then you will need to purchase a hosting plan, either through gemstream or through some other hosting provider. The hosting plan is what allows you to upload and store your files on the host's server. Then the domain name you have is pointed at that host server and that's what allows others to connect to your website. If you already have a hosting plan, you should just be able to contact gemstream or whoever your hosting plan is with and ask them to provide you with the FTP login credentials.
