Hi all

I have applied a high res sattelite photo to a nurbs plane to create a landscape. All is good except the displacement is not really smooth at all. It is very geometric/polygony instead of smooth and organic. I have tried to adjust a number of different settings, as well as blurring the actual displacement map but still havn't got what I'm looking for.

What settings should I adjust guys?

Thanks

what renderer did you use software renderer or mental ray?in mr you can adjust the surface tessellation in the approximation editor. In sw go to the attribute editor of the surface go to its shape node under that you will find displacement map then you can tweak your surface tessellation.

hey pao

I am using the software renderer for this scene. Can you be more specific about which tesselation settings to adjust. I know that I have gone into the displacement atributes and tried tweaking the sample rates and all that. Should I also be adjusting values in the tesselation tab?

Thanks mate

it really depends on your object to get the perfect settings...for me i play along with the sample rate and those thresholds....if i were you i will go for the mental ray renderer because it will give you more detailed look and if your gonna render it to mental ray you gotta turn off the displacement map in your shape node.
