here is an interesting design I came up with in December of last year- I want to see if I can pull it off
The body is supposed to be a snake wrapped around an hourglass

I had to put this one in
It will be a tribute guitar to my favorite progressive metal band Opeth
The body is the shape of their signature "O"!
you can see what the O looks like in my avatar pic

Looks very good. Is that a low res version? I highly recommend looking into the DT product visualization tutorials for rendering. They go over some of the best rendering techniques to show those tiny details that will otherwise look a bit blurry.

Thanks DJ-
I am a beginner in Maya and have no training except for the stuff I continue to learn by myself, through hours of trial and error and studying/reading Maya help files.
As for the suggestion on the product Viz training- I appreciae the tip, and I would absolutely be all over it, except I have no job at this time, so I cant afford to subscribe to DT just yet. I would love to have a year that I can spend learning everything I need from DT
And to answer your question about high res/low res, I dont really know what defines a model to be either/or- Maybe you or somebody else can enlighten me!?

These guitars look really good, though I would stick with 1 and make it great.

soulfeltart, not to worry, we'll help you through this process. It looks as though the shape of your guitar is made of nurbs but there are some polygons in there as well.
Go to the DT training page;
http://www.digitaltutors.com/09/training.php
Login with your new account and open the "Start Training" window. On the left hand side there's a link to Free training.
Let us know if you have any issues or if you are looking for a specific technique. We're all here to help :)
I agree with Fusedgore on sticking with just one guitar and concentrating on its texturing and rendering. This is a great project for your user level in the sense the model is fairly simple yet has potential to go on your demo reel if rendered properly. You are pretty good for a beginner though :)

Thanks a lot DJ
I appreciate everyones help on this site and being a part of this community- the support is tremendous, and I thank you all for extending your helpful critiques
I will got through these links and apply the knowledge I gain to see if I can make it work a little better- the process of developing new skills is soo rewarding- so I am always ready to learn something new
I think I will take the advice of sticking to one guitar and focusing on it to make it to make a great piece (Im like DaVinci- I tend to come up with many great ideas, and they all seem to go unfinished!)- haha - Time to work on that part of myself and slow down a bit
And thanks for the comment about my skill level- I am drawn to it enough to want to learn and excel and bring my ideas to "life" and i am glad to find another outlet to do so in Maya, this is just the beginning :)
Anyways, thanks again for taking the time to help me!
