Hey People! I modeled an avatar of myself and im still doing some modeling around the face to get a nice look
I will try to do the UV maps for a face for the first time of my life...
I want to give him good textures and I want people to believe in the head im modeling.
So here's a quick render (textures are juste to see how it look)

I want him to have a mohawk since I have long hair... and I did him some stretch piercings like I have...
I know im starting a lot of projects on these days but... the good thing is that I really do them and complete them! =) its for my portfolio that really need to be full in few weeks

Excellent start, I was just now checking the actual pictures of the movie and you would only need to widen the top part of the nose just a tad and perhaps give the ears an angle so they are a bit more facing the front.
Good job! I can't wait to see this one once it is detailed and textured :)

I worked a bit around the ear and the nose and gave you a clean & visible picture

Wow, you got it perfect now. Good job!
And by the way, it is great you you are posting so many projects lately, it gives life to this forum, that sometimes feels a bit dead, apart from the monthly contest section :)

Yeah you're right... im on this forum like... 20times per days but I can't find anything to write most of the time... and this month the monthly contest is not really active I don't know why... the subject is really nice =o
But now I have a problem... I really need to do the UV's but I never did the UVs for a such face...

Lookin' great. This is for the simplymaya challenge I'm assuming? ;)
I would say that the nostrils need more width/definition.

yeah im in the contest =)
I had nothing to do then I saw the contest and I was starting my own avatar so... why not lol =P
but they are giving an "already built" head model... if you're doing the contest try to make your own... the head is high poly and its not really fun to work with it...
and the ears are not placed right...
I will work around the nostrils ;) thank you!

hey man they look really good and practical!
I will sure take a look at 'em and see the method he's using =) the thing about the face UVs is the eye lids and the mouth that im getting trouble with... oh... and the ears...

Which version of Maya are you using? because if it's 2009 or 2010 the interactive unfolding should help a great deal. You can just use relax on those parts to avoid UV's from overlapping.
