I'm using a fairly up-to-date HP Pavillion laptop it says dv4000..... But anyway, when I start using paint effects, it goes into, what I call, freaky mode. Instead of the regular grid and whatever else you have in your scene, I get this grayness, the color of the default backround in the scene but now I have no grid, no compass, and when I move my cursor around, I get these red lines, the color of the little circle where I would be painting. And if I start clicking while I have one of the brushes it makes it green, and, well it's just wierd. So I dunno if anyone can help or if it's just a computer problem....

looks like a harware issue, prob your video card. BTW, what on earth possessed you to buy an HP in the first place? If you bought a KIA, would you be suprised it broke down a week later?

Heh, I'm fairly fond of this laptop but it's actually my mom's. We've had it for a while.... But I will be getting my own mac in just two weeks because our school gives all the eighth graders laptops, yay ^_^. So that'll be probably good. Guess I'll just have to wait until then...=\

One more thing, how do you increase the size of the paint brush? I know it's a dumb question but I just don't know.

Hmm, I dunno then. Maybe the hard drive is full, or something went wrong when I downloaded the PLE. Ahh well, I'm getting another laptop in two weeks so, hopefully that won't have the same problem.

try updating / re-installing your graphics drivers. That definately looks like a graphics hardware / graphics driver problem.
