View Full Version : pulling particles through a tube?

so, I need to create a moving cluster of particles, then have a portion of that particle get sucked through a tube.
so, I've created an omni emitter with newton and turbulence. This part looks good.
But "sucking" some of the particles away from that cluster in a tube is somewhat of a giant problem. I thought for sure the uniform field would do it, but I've tried every field with no real luck
Any ideas on what I can do to make this happen?
Thanks,
Dave

Have you tried using goals?

yeah, working on a goal situation, but no luck yet.
currently, I'm just going to combine my emitter with another curve flow, but it would look far more realistic if I could pull on the particles.

I am still pretty new but i think you might be able to set up a gravity effect for directional not for sure though just thought i would throw that one out to you.

yeah, you could try Gravity or Uniform, but neither is giving me the effect that I'm trying to emulate.
For now, I'll just combine the 2 and my hunch is that through using a curve as a goal and some clever Mel scripting, I could do it the way I envision.

Have you ever considered running the animation backwards? I know this sounds weird, but sometimes it is easy to the opposite of what you want, and you could get away with just playing the animation backwards when compositing... just a side thought.

sounds interesting, but I need to be worried about camera movements and such...
I do have a way to do it, but thank you for the idea!
