It's possible but it's more efficient to teach people through the kit system. One person spends hours teaching a small group or spends hours teaching hundreds of people repeatedly.

I think that what Bern really wants is a structured enviornment.. You guys put out really good hands on CD's, there is not really any sturcture that states once you finished the Introduction to Maya or XSI (as example) you should do these CD's (list) next. While you (your company) has made CD's that extend what you learn from the Introduction, such as the Photorealistic Car and Female Android Model, these are only intermediate level CD's. I have not purchased the Backwater Bunch Production Series to see if you go further in there, but I have not seen any Advanced level CD's. I count those ones that you have done of fluids, fur, cloth, and hair as reference CD's rather than full lessons.. I do applaude you in the efforts that you have done so far, they are easy to follow (with minor exceptions), they are all "do as I do" styled which help people remember with the visual and hands-on approach, and you feel an accomplishment when you finish a project that almost looks like a professional had done it. Keep up to good work.

bern saint,

Digital-Tutors does offer corporate on-site training and consulting, but because of our production schedule, we are limited to the number of clients we currently take on. Sorry :(

Yeoman742,

You bring up interesting topic, but I must say "Advanced" is often a relative term in regards to one's own skillset. Although our Introduction to RealFlow falls under the "basics" category, our training was used by artists at Omation for the fluid simulation in Barnyard and our RealFlow Maya Integration training was used by artists working on Poseiden. One could say these artists are advanced users though.

You are right though, as we have traditionaly focused on training for new to intermediate artists. The amount of "advanced" artists is quite smaller but we do have training and more training coming that will tickle the fancy of some advanced artists.

On a side note, our team is also working on a "learning path" to provide customers such as yourself a more customized way of learning specific to you.

You show people what you can do with your demo reel.

bern saint,

Thanks for the feedback and we appreciate the help. Like I mentioned, we are working on some training and topics that should appeal to advanced users.

Glick,

I agree with you too. I know a few artists completely self-taught with incredible working in production and a few artists from top notch schools still looking.
