I love Chirstopher Paolini's Inheritance books, and eagerly awaits the release of the movie comming this December. Though still we havent seen a trailer for it. The reason: the main dragon character Saphira. Fox is atleast obsessed with getting her perfectly done (now if we could get them to care for the urgals). But here's mybiggest complaint about them.

Why does ILM, a studio that working with digital dragons before is nothing new to them, (they did dragon heart and Draco was perfect) and Weta, WETA! the one studio in which I fall to the ground twitching cause i heard its name...... what possible as if possible kind of poor work could they deliver that doesnt impress their client. We're talking about the biggest houses there are in the industry here! And with most of the films budget being thrown into creating Saphira, ( I mean i would have volunteered to create better looking Urgals, the ones they have now are uglier then what the author describes).

They're trying to do something ground breaking with their dragon and am sorry, I dont have the imagination to possiblY figure out what kind of new revolutionary way they're trying to woe us in the industry over. Just show us the trailer please.......

Sorry to team DT, but i dont know where else to express my grief and possibly find an answer to what could they be doing over at ILM and Weta.

It could be just a trick to get people excited. Just be happy the movie is not delayed :)

Like you said they havent really done nothing else than groundbreaking work in the past changing the way filmaking is done altogether basically. Some people just strive for perfection wich in most cases beautifull films. I for one dislike trailers actually since I like to be surprised. I agree with sunder probably a mixture of a small publicity stunt, maybe even getting stuck here and there and now having to make up time, or just strive for perfection wich takes time. ;)

I forgot to say that a trailer was originally announced to be released with Superman Returns, but delayed because of the same problems, but atleast now they had found a voice for saphira. I mean with their budget going to her mostly they had to sacrifiece alot. I dont know why, but the hornless urgals really ticks me off, prolly cus they're too human and in the book they're describe more Orc like. *sigh* I guess cause its a best selling fantasy series they try to out do the other big films.

I saw a trailer for the game at this year's E3. During the presentation they did have a small behind the scenes sequence on the making of the movie but there was nothing that we haven't seen before in other bts
peeks on other fantasy films...and if I remeber correctly...the shots of the dragon were so brief it was like watching a jet fly past your nose, couldn't really make out much at all.

My guess is - the marketing team is going to keep things hush hush just like they did when Godzilla was being marketed. No peeks at the design just so they can get a real good buzz going...

I will be interested to see what ILM can do to reinvent how dragons are presented on the big screen.

The thing is the community already knows what Saphira is going to look like in this final poster (http://www.shurtugal.com/imageviewer.php?view=2006/august/21/eragonposterfinal.jpg). They must be really investing alot, I mean alot cus the elf (the blonde girl) she doesnt have tapered ears like elfs are suppose to have.
