Hello everyone. I am so frustrated, when I ought not be because I know someone here has an answer. :)
My issue is that I'm putting a normal map on my earthworm jim character and the rendering shows unsmoothed edges. I'm using the normal mapp shading network from Headus. I've done everything to the normals to smooth them. I've unlocked them, smoothed then 180 degrees and made sure that all the normals are facing the propper direction. Here is a render of the unsmoothed normals which I've marked out a couple with the light blue.

It isn't the normal map either because if you look at the images below there is no drastic change in coloration. If someone wants to view the files let me know.

What is the deal? I hope someone can help me out.

hi buddy...
you did wel.. but there is one problem that is applying normal mapp... can you see the normal map image result i think that was second image which was highlited with you with some couple of text....
the issue is you didn't used surface mapler in right way... i meant by that... could you plz look at the result so closely there are the edges that are similar to the low res body chest... that is a issue that is a thing you want to remove... while making normal map you have to adjust the values and two or three option in surface sampler if you made that normal so i know the surface sampler and normal working..
Adeel from pakistan..

Thank you very much for the advice. I am using maya 6.5, but I created the normalmap in Zbrush.
The problem was that the difference between the low resolution mesh and the high poly mesh was to great. When it interpolated the data it created artifacts that aren't really visible just by looking at the normal map. I upped the resolution on my low res mesh and did the normal mapp generation again and it looks great now. Thanks again for your help.
