View Full Version : AE Stereo comp with Trapcode Form
My AE project is based on the Stereo for AE tutorials, and I'm trying to figure something out.
In my 3D comp, I have a Trapcode Form layer with multiple particles spread out along the Z axis.
In my 3D comp, the Form plugin layer interacts with my Comp Camera (or dolly null) and the particles show the correct z depth space.
I look at my stereo_controls comp and the anaglyph render makes it look like the particles have the same Z depth.
Is their a way to link the Z depth information from the plugin to the render comps?
Hopefully I'm communicating my challenge effectively..
Thanks,

Hi bven,
I'm not sure how Form is created, but you might need to use a method similar to the Photoshop 3D layers. In that Form won't send the Z info up a precomp, so you need two comps with the form layer duplicated in both, and then put the camera's in that comp with the form layer. This way the left and right camera directly can see the Form layer(s) and interpret the Z-Depth info.
So, to show what's happening:
Regular 3D Layers:
3d Layers (3d info) |Left/Right Comp| 3D Layers Comp 2 on collapse transform (3D info) + Camera (3D info)
Form Layers:
Form Layer (3D Info) |Left/Right Comp| Form Layer Comp 2 on collapse transform (2D info) + Camera (3D info)
Thanks Chris for the response.
Lesson 18 was real helpfull getting the comp working. I had already moved the Form comps into the Left and Right eye comps, but couldn't figure out the removal of the 40 pixels from the script.
My only question would be the manual contol of the zero parallax and seperation. I'm breaking down a big comp where hopefully all my elements are operating under the same space parameters. Should I need to mess around with removing the script and manually controlling the parallax and seperation? Not sure if that made sense or not. I'm guessing I'll have to get some test renders going and fine tune from there.
Thanks again for your help,
-Bart

Hi bven,
If you moved the Form layers into the Left and Right eye comps, the set-up to control the Zero Parallax and Separation should work correctly. You might run into some layering issues. What is the exact issue you're having right now?
Glad I could help!
