Is there something similar to thinking particles for Maya?

What does thinking particles for cinema 4D actually do with the particles I must first ask in return. For maya there are loads of particle plugins free and for sale that do all sort of things. Maya can handle most anything when it comes to particles in combination with theire other tools such as the dynamic system, goals or other tools available inside the software.
Ill look up what thinking particles actually does but If I can remember correctly it had to do with just regular particle possibilities.
