Hi guys,
any input from you will be highly appreciated!
Im rendering out a sequence that I have animated in maya.
No matter what renderer i use, the images have a slight jerk...
which is really frustrating!
Is there a way to smooth them out?
I have tried different file formats, aswell as exporting them as an avi (which looks really bad), as well as exporting interlaced frames...
yet... no matter what, the images are not smooth in FCHECK, After Effects... whatever...
Please help!
Kind Regards
-Martin

Maybe the shutter angle?
can the shutter angle of the scene's camera make a difference?

Is your camera animated? What exactly is jerking: the whole image or a texture/effect? The shutter angle is used for evaluating motion blur.

Yes, the camera is animated.... It flies over a mountain range, following an aircraft. When i render this scene out as an image sequence, the whole image jerks a bit. As if it was shot with Xtreme progressive scan. No matter if i change the file format to be rendered out. the footage still isnt smoooooth...

Here is a snapshot of the action.
The full image jerks on a frame basis.

Check to see if the camera itself isn't jerking around. Perhaps do a simple playblast and if you see the jerking in the playblast, then you can blame the camera :-p

When i play the animation from the timeslider... its absolutely PERFECT...
its only as its rendered out...when it loses its smoothness...

Maybe check that you have the correct framerate set on your timeline in Maya. If that framerate does not match that of your project settings in After Effects, you could get the jerky footage that you are describing...
You may experience that jerkiness when your camera is moving fast. If your camera is animated moving quickly over a surface you may get jerkiness. Can you upload three frames one before the jerk, one of the jerk and one after the jerky frame.
Also render those frames from a different (new) camera to make sure it isn't your animation of the camera.

Hi guys, thanx for your input, i REALLY REALLY appreciate it!
It's someting that bothers me, bigtime...
I spend allot of time on the scene, and then its not smoooth upon exporting...
I have the samer problem in another scene, where the camera also flies... as an aircraft enters the shot, the motion of the aircraft is not as smooth as it should be...
It gets displayd smooth in the maya interface, but when i export, its not.
Yes, I live in South Africa, so wqe use PAL at 25fps.
I have just changed my timeline playback speed to - (other) 25fps, as there is no preset for this.
Can this make a difference?
Because, if i view the rendered sequence in FCHECK i get the SAME result when i custom type the framerate to 30 or 25 fps in fcheck...
There MUST be an answer to this.
Thanx for your help.
Papa...your a genius,
GO DT!
