Hi everyone

ill be doing Space hulk

http://www.scifi.com/sfw/issue26/board.jpg

used 3d application : softimage xsi

user level (5 is best ; 0 is worst )->
modeling : 3/5
animation : 1/5
rendering : 2/5

game info :
scifi action tabletop game involving military high tech marines and evil alien monsters
number of players : 2 - 8
the main objective was to survive , i think
there was a gamemaster who was in charge of the monsters and the other players in charge of their marines
action points were used to to perform actions for aliens and marines
monsters out of the marines visible range would be placed as "blips" , each blip represented 1 to 3 creatures , once in sight the blip would be replaced with a small alien figurine
the marines could make use of different weapons to defeat the aliens (flamethrowers grenades bolter rifles heavy machine guns )
the game is over when all marines or aliens are killed / mission winning conditions are met

good luck everyone

here is my first update

experimented a bit to find a good way to get 3d geometry details into a texture , fast
ultimapper + ambient occlusion looks nice but takes long time to render so i cheated :dance (build detail geometry :unique uv set -> rendermap -> ambient occlusion |build low poly geometry cage -> ultimapper -> pick detail geometry -> render albedo -> done )[even rendering 512 pixel ambient occlusion in ultimapper takes much longer then rendering 2048 pixel ambient occlusion using rendermap and baking with ultimapper : albedo , quality loss is minimal ]

thanks !:jump

I'm sorry I thought you did this in Maya. I don't know a thing in XSI. Sorry again. Great progress...:)

That looks really good. You've done a heap in the time you've had.
I was considering doing this myself, but backed off cause I thought it would be too much work. Though you're screaming through it. Really impressive texture "cheating" too. Keep it up.

Keep up the good work. The way you're doing this through textures is an interesting nod to the "2d-ness" of the original game. Looking forward to see how this turns out!

P.S. - I had never heard of this game before you started this project.

One thing I can tell you is that the screen shots & your models doesn't have a very big difference...

That's a bummer, dude! Are you still planning on finishing it? It would be cool to see how it turns out, even if it's too late for this contest...
