View Full Version : Mental Ray washes out object.

I've never had this problem before, but MR is making the object all white. I check everything I culd think of and it all looks okay. I deselect the enable default lights, clicked FG and 1000 rays and changed the background to an almost white.

Mental Ray is very complicated and if you dont know what your doing or following real life values for diffusion and light and you dont respect real light emission laws, you get results like these. Theres no way to tell you whats wrong, because it can be so many things. If you send me the scene I can trouble shoot it for you and let you know EXACTLY what was wrong with it. PM me if youd like me to do that for ya.
drop your background to gray and see what happens.

I changed the BG color and got the same thing. I downloaded one of the shaders off of highend's website and that messed the scene up. I went back a file (lucky I save tons of new scene files) and rendered in in MR again and it wasn't washed out.

As Jak said it MR is complicated, but to me that looks like the reflection is really high, reflecting the white BG, try turning off the reflections and try again.
