I'm a newbie with modeling and I was wondering what would be the best way to model a room. I would like the walls to be thick and not just a plane. What about the window holes? Is the best to make a boolean difference?

Hi there, boolean would be a possible way to build up the basic walls and holes. Another way would be to actually boxmodel it all, which in advanced scenes proberly would be better, but the boolean should work just fine for you for now.

What do you mean by boxmodeling?

boxmodeling just means you start with a box and go from there. Try making a cube, then select all the faces and extrude them outwards. Then scale the object to the right dimentions and go from there. Start making edge cuts and then deleting faces.
