hello all,
I just bought the photorealistic car modeling video and have got to the stage where you convert polygon objects into sub division surfaces. What I've found with some of my conversions is that the vertices sometimes need tweeking to take care of any imperfections or blemishes and I think that I found a good way to do so if anyone is interested (this may be commonly done already, newish to maya but I'd thought I'd share anyway).
-select sub-D surface that needs tweeking
-make a duplicate with instance option turned on
-manipulate the instance to change the original object
-benifit is that you don't have a messy grid in the way, easier to see what's going on for the surface you wish to change
here's a picture showing what I mean-

Main reason for doing it this way is that you don't have mesh on the surface your trying to edit so you can see how it's being changed easier. Hope it helps :)
