I don't know if anyone has this training, but at the beggining of Lesson 9 (modelling), what the guy accomplishes with the Extrude Edge does not match at all with what happens here. He has a cage, and extrude the edges, and the edges of the object extrude uniformely as well, when I try to do this, there are some points in the object (the anchor points of the cage) that doesn't extrude at all, or they do but very little, not like the edges. I could just skip the lesson, but I'd like to know what's wrong (maybe my settings are wrong, maybe my version of maya is wrong, don't know) in case it happens again later on. Thanks

I tihnk the problem your having sounds like youre in local translation mode, for everything to move at same rate, you need to switch to global mode. To switch back and forth quickly, just toggle modes by clicking on the extrude manipulator's small blue cursor. It looks like the top part of a lollipop.

I tryied that but it doesn't work... It's not a problem of the direction where it's extruding but what. Before I have a some edges, when i extrude them all together it kinda curve them in the center of each one and where they edges join (vertices?) it extrudes much less.

Ok, after learning other parts of the program, I returned to this dvd, and I saw what the problem was. If anyone runs into this exact problem, you have to go to Polygons>Tool Options and see a checkmark in "Keep Faces Together". If not, click on it and problem solved

I'd like to say something, I don't want to sound rude or mean, but as it is said "A picture is worth a thousand words". If you are having a problem that you would like help on, it would be very useful to either post a picture of what is happening or even (if you have somewhere to store it) post the .mb file.. While its GREAT that you figured out what was going on, by posting a pic or .mb file, would have increased the chances of finding your problem immediately rather than speculating on a possible cause.. Thanks and good luck with future projects..
