Feb09: Chess - My own version

I have a good new and a bad one

The good point is that Im trying to be in this month contest!
I dont have a lot of spare time... I can count on an hand how many hours ill be able to spend on the project
So I took a game that I like and I know how it looks like, it will be easier for me to model it if I dont need to look at it and try to find ways to model it.

So yeah I took a Chess game as model
But Ill add my personal touch by modeling the pieces

But the bad new is that I saw the name of the other project tonight... and started modeling this morning
its an other chess game
so yeah sorry for taking the same game... but im sure it will look totaly different since we are two different artist =)

Hope to see a lot of project this month!

Ok I had an idea for the Rook and the pawn
and I still try to find some for the others...

there's a picture (low poly)
there's 302 faces im sure I can reduce it but my goal is not the do the lowest number since im going to do high poly once finished

The Chess game is still really basic since I've not decided how it will look like and without texture... it just look like a table or something like that... maybe a floor since the two big pieces stand on it!
they are bigger than their original size to let you see how they look like

Feel free to comment about the idea, the modeling or anything else!

What sort of a concept are you planning?? Because I have a idea for a chess board that might go close or collide with your idea!!!

well since that project is about reality and now... fantasy
I cant go deep in what I wanted to do
I wanted to do a kind of... medieval structures that represent the pieces
like a dragon instead of an horse... a canon, an house, a priest hat, a crown... things like that you know

and there'll be two kind of model of each (black&white will be good&evil)
I first had the idea to model a kind of... Lord of the rings or harry potter Chess game but since im not at home really often I found something easier to do... something that ill be able to finish before the deadline
hope that its not what you wanted to do
and... if its what you had in mind ... do it
im pretty sure that your project will be different and after all, even if its a competition its still frendly =)
so you can take some of my ideas an include it or if you had the same ideas well... you can do it that way too
im here to have fun and im sure that its the same for you
