Due to many requests we are continuing Project Board Games in February and March, where only modeling will be done in February. Please carefully read the description for February project:

Project Description
Simply model your favorite board game in your choice of application. We will do the shading and rendering in March.

-Still images are good though animation is a plus (see voting detail below**)

Project Requirements
1. Resolution: 720x486 (Maya Image size: CCIR 601/ Quantel NTSC)
Note: People who are doing animation are not limited to this size, though they still need to post an image of 720x486 as a poster for their animation.

2. Create a thread under the February 2009 forum with the title of your project (February09: project title), and post your progress at least three times during the month.

3. Please include a brief description of the game, its objectives, number of players, and playing instructions.

4. Specify your user level with the application of choice.

5. DT provides unlimited amount of gallery space to members so please upload your final entry in any of the DT galleries. You may also upload the entry on your website or a photo sharing site but the link should be on DT under your project's thread.

Rule
- Gore and vulgarity is not allowed.

Duration
January 24th to February 28th.

Application
You can use any software covered by Digital Tutors, or a freeware 3D application like Blender.

Poll
- A poll will be posted on March 1st that is going to include all entries where members can vote for their favorite work.

** An animation project will automatically have two votes in addition to votes by DT members.

The winner of the poll will be announced in the following Digital-Tutors Newsletter, to which you can subscribe to via your DT user ID options. Please check your DT Inbox after the poll closes for any important notifications.

* DT administrators and moderators can enter this project but cannot run for the DT Newsletter polls.

Here are some DT tutorials that will give you a jump start on;

Why there are 2 months for this project??? Since some of the participants are almost finished their work... As for the January project the deadline is still 30th right???

There might be more who would want to join. Dividing the project in two months will give people the opportunity to study not just modeling but also photorealistic rendering techniques, which is a different ball game altogether.

The deadline for January is the 31st :)

As much as I want I wouldn't be able to, work projects are time consuming. But you are most welcome to model Battleships if you're interested :)

Not the actual model, just a simple render without texturing etc. will do. But yes, the modeling should be finished in this month :)

its a shame for so less entries:/ i was continued on the settlers thingie i made before but stopped with that not happy with the result.

but i also think with some small prices or something in that direction alot more entries will come. ( example: win a comp is 10 points and 100 points is 1 free tutorial or something? or something like this" just an example" )

and maybe an idea to start one month with only texturing ( you provide the model) and the other day only moddeling or something? like this month. but yeah to less entries:(

Interesting idea. I was thinking winner gets a DT gift voucher so the winner can buy some more tute dvds from DT....

Maybe I'm asking for too much!!!

Well my motivation goes a bit far. Currently I'm working with hand me downs from one of my friends abroad cause it cost a fortune to buy a DT kit where I live:( & I really like to actually own a DT kit for myself. :bang

So maybe I might have some selfish reasons for a request like that....:jump
