Ok, so while at work I worked out a thumbnail sketch of my scene, so far it's simple as soon as I get a chance I'll post my thumbnails. One problem I think I'll run into is rendering from multiple camera shots. So far I have only used one camera in most of all my images and animation, but this one will call for at least 2 to 4 camera angels.

My question is how do you go about rendering with multiple camera shots?

This is a very rough outline

that gave me some ideas for the contest that I can unfortunatly not be in
you should do some fireworks effect far away in the sky (maybe 2D fireworks since its just far away) and blur it
then concentrate your work on this fire work to do the burning rope

If I have enough time I will do the fireworks. Basically it is going to be a match stick among a variety of matchbox containers, then the match strikes on the side of a box to ignite and then lights the fuse. Mostly I need to work on creating the spark when the fuse is lite and having it follow the path to the rocket. At least that is my idea. It sounds easy, but i will have to rig the match so it can bend.

Or, I can skip the match animation to do kind of an implied but not see.

Start with a slow panning of the matchboxes until you here a match striking off camera with a flash. Either a quick turn or cut to and you see the match just hitting the floor with the fuse lite burning away to the rocket, then a shot of the night sky and back to a over head view or side view of the rocket with a zoom into the fuse just before ignition. Then a wide shot of the rocket squash/stretch seconds before blast off. Then final frame from in front of rocket tracking it as it flies by headed for the sky with smoke trail.

Well that seems a bit better, but not sure, have to think it through some more.

It may seem like a little bit much, but I am trying to push myself in getting familiar with animating. I got accepted to Animation Mentors and I'm supposed to start in March. I think getting accepted was the easy part, financing is the hard part. So, even though I suck at drawing, I am trying to storyboard all my ideas.

Very nice! :)

For using multiple camera shots: Create and setup your cameras in the scene. Open the attribute editor for let's say camera3. Go to "Output Settings" and check "Renderable". The camera should show up should show up in your Render Settings under Renderable cameras, add others using the same technique.

Hey metryx,

Im really liking your idea! Its a different angle on the pyro stuff but a good one. Just a quick tip...if you end up doing the match and bending it, Id use the bend deformer, which you probably already know. If youre going to those levels of the match bending, Id also put a ramp on the match texture and keyframe it moving to reveal the match burning...just an idea, have some fun :)

Hey guys, didn't mean to pull a no show on the contest and congrats to Gadgetfun for his Flashing Wheel.

In a car accident which totaled out our car, but I am going to finish my project, just for me. I got a lot of encouragement and some good ideas from everyone and I want to see how it turns out.

metryx,

WOW! Are you okay? I hope you were not hurt. Hey, don't worry about the poll or the project, your health is a priority. We can always have another theme in the future that might use your pyrotechnic scene.

Best wishes :)
