i was wondering if someone might know of a good way to model a disco ball, what the best texture to use would be and how to emit the lights from it?
thanks in advance for the help:)

first step is to just see what they look like:

as soon as I saw this, I noticed it looked exactly like a poly sphere. So all you have to do is make a poly sphere with lots of divisions, then select all the faces and extrude them and scale them down a bit (turn off keep faces together before extruding)
For rendering all you have to do is put a reflective material on it. Check out the HDRI tutorials. If you use mental ray you might be able to aim spot lights at it and have the light bounce off, but if you can't just take a sopt light, put it in the ball with the cone sticking out, then group the ball and the light together. That way you can animate the rotaiton of the group and the light will follow.
