View Full Version : How can i create an atmosphere texture (for a spatial scene)?

Hi,
I want to make a spatial scene with a realistic earth.
The problem is i don't know how to make the atmosphere ? (i tried with a blinn with a ramp in transparency but i can't have a realistic result.) :frown:
Can you help me please ?

the only way your gonna get a realistic earth is to texture an image on the shader, not unless your good with photoshop and make your own...What ive done in a case like this was made a layerd texture node with three or four blinns 1. the earth image 2.cloud (could use a cloud texture and tweek it) 3.clear coated blinn with only specular,and in photoshop make a black and white texture of the earth image and apply it as a bump.

look around on the net, NASA and some other sites have some very good earth textures as well as cloud textures. For the 'glow' of the earth, just make a sphere and apply a shader glow to it and choose hide source.
