have you been following the DVD's from DT?
it looks like their girl with a different haircut
you should try to rig it and pose it in a scene =)

Yes, I did it and I tried to model hair and head in one piece of geometry.

I saw your post...well my solution is just a texture applied to a region of the head and I didn't planned any animation for that...and I haven't any experince about other hair solution...:(...I'm sorry I can't help you.
