i got into a situation last week where it would have been helpful to animate material colors but couldnt figure out how to do it.

For instance, i have a polygon that is colored blue and between frame 0 and frame 50 i have 2 faces selected on that polygon that i want to go from the color blue to the color yellow while the remaining faces of the polygon maintain their blue color. when i try to do this it doesnt work, it just saves the last color to all the frames when i apply the new material setting.

how would i acheive this? i figure there is a way but its not as trivial as one would think. thanks for your time...

I beleive this is due to the fact that the shader ignores the faces rather than that try to take those two faces and use seperate to make those a individual object basically, which you can than shade with the same shader and simple right click animate the color as you wish. This should take care of the problem.
