I have seen al these rig with the facial rig controls. Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial or somethingf to show me how to set one of these up. I have heard that the book Stop Staring talks about it but I'm not sure if it shows you haw exactly. If anyone could give me some info on this I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Adam

DT is currently in the process of releasing a kit specifically on facial rigging, but there are basic tutorials on facial rigging covered in
Backwater Bunch 4 (http://www.digitaltutors.com/store/product.php?productid=53&cat=64&page=3#tabs) and Non-Linear Animation (http://www.digitaltutors.com/store/product.php?productid=1386&cat=64&page=1) kits.
There are a few tutorials on facial rigging on the net but I haven't found any that are good or simple enough to easily understand this intricate process, and there are no video tutorials on it as far as I know.
At the moment the best one yet is the Backwater bunch 4 kit because it shows how to blend shapes for the facial expressions using clusters, which works great :).

Hurry up Please :)

I'm waiting on it.

I'm hoping you will cover, eyelids that smoothly close around really bulgey eyes. Multiple morph targets? Not just bones?

Really cool iconic controls, with jaws that can move in all directions. :bang :bounce2:

One of my favorite books is
Jason Osipa's

"Stop Staring: Facial Modeling and Animation Done Right"

It's a great book written by an animator, so the book isn't confusing at all. The book was written for Maya 5 so some of the plugins he developed is standard in 6.5 and 7. (i.e. paint blend weights)

Not only is the rigging very helpful, but the technique of building a model for proper facial rigging is very good too.

check it out.

I have that book. I'm slow reader. :dont know

I will look at it again. I didn't see anything on the really cool facial rig Icons. Really I haven't got to facial rigging yet but If DT comes out with a straightforward facial rig that suits my needs I'll go it with.

I have Art of Rigging and I just haven't got to it.
I just started learning Maya.
here's a face I'm working on. it's my first Maya model.

you guys are wonderful people, but how do i get one in Nigerial? It's not fair! am left out in all this, all i do is read about what's going on. How do you participate living in a country like Nigeria? I have good Imagination, good Ideas, pretty creative too. Am sick of just watching what's going on in your great world. I need a friend out there.

If I had known there was a facial rig tutorial on the Trax DVD I may have gotten it. I don't see where it says a step by step in the DVD description. I don't see facial rig tutes?

Facial rigging isn't covered in trax. We will have a dedicated kit for that subject.

That's good I'm looking forward to it, I returned Trax just last week because I feel I should learn rigging first. I will probably just get Face Rig. I want to have a nice GUI like I see on CGTalk. Again, I do have art of rigging, but I like my syflex CD. Sunder was really helpful in getting EZFlex on the Mac working. And of course, Hillary who's been a champ.

Syflex I'm studying because of all the different effects you can do with cloth, tho' eventually I will use it for characters. :yes
