I´m thinking about buying a very good computer but of course it´s expensive. So I´m hoping anyone can tell me if it´s a lot better to make a computer then buying one thats done?

Hi,
I prefer making my own PC because i'm sure of the quality of the pieces.
Sometimes it's even cheaper to make your pc than buy one already done
Hope i helped !

Mortis is correct, sometimes making it yourself is cheaper and better. On the other hand, because prices and technology change daily it can take a lot of time to research/purchase the correct components - and for this reason, I rarely make my own systems. I find that I can get a decent workstation from somewhere and then customize it to modify my needs if I have to.

usualy its better to build your own but somtimes u can find realy good deals. Most machines have inegrated MB and I prefer dedicated MB for reliability and if one part goes then u dont have to srap the whole MB. so basicaly add up the parts u want and then compare whats in the market to see the cost differance.

Well I have to go against most of the others opinion here. My job used to be building up regular pc's as well as cad mashines for my brothers Co. I prefer when it comes to graphics to buy a cad like mashine when really wanting to deal with heavy scenes, programing own shaders, rendering as fast as possible, etc. I would recommend you to look at the benchmark rendering results at highend and when buying a new mashine taking that into consideration. There they have a test scene to download to render and see what results you get compared to other mashines. Definately when spending alot of money you have to at least spend a couple of days of heavy research. These are just my thoughts on the issue. If i would be into games I would build me one from scratch. The main issue is OpenGL based cards and with the new ati firegl v7350 and a dual ati x2 64bit processor and lots of rams you should be prepared for the next two years. ;)
