Mental Ray Registration

Hi I have a problem with Mental Ray. I installed Maya Complete 7 on top of Maya 5 a few months ago. All was fine, mental ray worked great. Until about two weeks ago. Suddenly when I launched MAYA, I started getting a red error on the command line about mental ray not being registered. Now it has shut down. Interestingly if I open an older file that I was renderign with Mental Ray re-instates. how do I register Mental Ray?!

I have searched high and low for that one ... Documentation, Alias website, MR website, no help. I spanned the web too, and it looks like not many others have the problem :frown:

Thats a really wierd problem, I think you should try uninstalling maya 7 then see if mental ray works with maya 5. If it does reinstall maya 7.

BTW, why do you need both versions?
