Anybody here know Maya Shave and Haircut plug-in? Do you use it?

I recently got this plug-in and i must say, it's easy to get hang of it and dam there are so many options to control the hair. Though it's amazing. Anyway, i need to ask you something. What is the best way to get rid of unwanted hair? I don't want to have like extra roots sticking out when i try to shorten the hair. This is what happens to me.

I want to create hair for my character. I could use Maya Hair for this but since I have Shave and Hair cut, why bother? So could you please tell me if there are any tutorials out there for Shave and Hair cut? I've already checked the help file and read all of it. It's good but doesn't tell me how to actually create hair on a character and a way to get rid of unwanted hair( unless i've missed that part).

I really appericiate it if you guys help me out here. :)
