Oktober '08 Halloween House Swamp

Hi you guys,

I think this will be a fun contest those Halloween stuff. I will do the swamp no idea why but whatever. :dont know :)

Here is my progress so far.

I really like the reflections of the creepy house and the moon. The moon really adds to the creepiness, it looks like it's lerking in the shadows. Excellent work.

Looks great overall but the house seem to a bit cartoonee for me..... Can you tell us how did you add the moon & the reflections??

Coming along nicely. The stylized grass goes with the rest of the objects.

I like the stylization of it. I'd suggest diffusing the reflection some...you have good distortion on it, but I think the reflection could stand to be blurred/diffused some to simulate a reflection on murky water.

danlefeb: i will do the blurred reflections in my next update thanks for the tip.

BlackDeath: The moon in a Nurbs sphere with a 4k projection map on it. The reflections were the easiest think just enable raytracing en do some minor setting in the shading network reflectivity. It is rendered all in Maya software.

I'm thinking to do a animation, i have just connected a Wiimote to simulate an handheld camera or a view out of a persons eye :) and it works GREAT!

I wanted to look like if somebody had filmed the house whit a camcorder. I used a Wiimote controller to simulate a camcorder in Maya so that it is all shaky.

BUT!!! :help
There is something wrong with the shave and haircut grass. When the camera is looking left or right the grass is moving where the camera is looking. Weird! Someone knows a answer right away? Hope to have time to fix it en do a 30 hour re render.

I don't see the grass moving with the camera view. It just seems there's strong wind. Been sometime since I've used Shave & Haircut, but I don't recall any easy way to plug the hair direction to camera's view, though not sure if it's because of Wii.

Hahaha you’re right!

The grass is moving because i have put a turbulence field on it to simulate wind blowing around.

The problem is that the grass is moving from the ground plant left to right. Nothing to do with the dynamics.

Here in Holland we have a themepark called Walibi and they are celebrating Halloween in October every Friday to Sunday. The whole park is filled with scare actors and special build haunted houses you can walk in so finaly whe have Halloween to! But without the candy we don’t walk to a house and ring the bell if we do that we run away hahah :)

My internet went out five times trying to download but i finally got it. It's awesome!!. :) The water and fog are really amazing and the handy-cam thing is a great touch. Good luck.
