Hi everyone,

I have 2 questions about the ICE Nodes Reference Library :

- In one year, will i have acces to all the training exept the latest updates or i wont have acces at all ?
- Do you plan to add a download function or it will only be available online ?

Thanks

Hi Mortis,
These are great questions and since this is a new type of service I can understand people will have lots of questions.

When we decided to make this title we quickly realized that giving people 8 discs with over 165 lessons to start was going to be a tough call. The training title was designed to serve as a reference for you when you are knee deep in a project and you need to know how to use a node.

Also ICE is brand new as you know and as a result we know there are going to be nodes that will be added and nodes that will change and evolve. While on beta the nodes changed greatly and this was something we didn't want you to repurchase just to get a few extra nodes.

So we decided to use an online delivery that way you can access them from home or work and we could update the library almost instantly. So when the next version of xsi comes out we will update the library and you will still gain access to it.

Since the renewal is 12 months away we have time to listen to our customers and either offer a very low cost to renew or to extend the access at that time.

The key is that this library is going to evolve and continue to grow. It would be very difficult to look up a Math node on a set of discs. We would have to send you a detailed table of contents and you would look for set 2, disc 3 chapter 2, video 15. Then you need to know about a color node. So you have to load set 1, disc 2, chapter 4, video 7. See what I mean? You can now just log in, search for what you need and there you go.

The goal is going to keep adding different examples to our library but that isn't official. We want to fill the system with value so the extras are all free.

This product took the longest to create for us. This included sending developers to Montreal and working with the ICE / XSI developers for a week, R/D time to create material without any documentation and putting together over 35 hours of videos.

At this time we are not offering a check out (download) system but we are working hard on finding a solution. We are hoping that if you need to download 9 gigs of data you will be able to access 100mb when needed during the project you are working on.

This training title isn't like our others and it is not meant to be used in a linear style. It is truly a reference you can jump into and use as needed.

I hope that helped Mortis,
Papa
