yeah ! Sunder said it would be soon and they will listen to our demands. I hope they will. I'm glad that DT is making tutorials on Houdini and I hope they will not stop. I simply think it's the most powerfull 3d software there is and it shoud be sustained and brought to people, to common users. I understand that applications like Maya and Zbrush are more accesibile for people to learn, that's why they are popular (come on ZBrush can be learned in 6 hours period). Please more Houdini materials !!! RENDERING (texturing, shading, lighting, rendering) and some CHARACTER dvds (complex rigging for animation, muscles, defromations, jiggles, facials, morphs, blends, etc). Everyone is screaming about rendering and character stuff. Everyone knows about particles and dynamics as this has become a behaviour when talking about Houdini. There is lots of power in other areas as well. Best regards !

perhaps Advanced Dynamics like Fluid, Fur and Hair
and Procedural Animation
Houdini is a powerful tool and it would be great to learn more about it :)

38.3 hrs Rigging \ 5 DVDs !!! very interesting :)
Hi Neo-on,
not nice to post links to other sites since this is our private network.
Thanks for all of your suggestions. We have some great stuff coming out. Sunder just wrapped up all of the ICE Nodes and that is part of our new Online Exclusive material. There are over 160 nodes covered and they are really amazing.
We do have some Houdini stuff coming up as well as some new apps that we are supporting.
There has been a great deal of focus on our Daily Dose videos as well. We are releasing a free video every day and these are all self contained videos and not samples of our dvd. These videos are full on projects which might be useful. I now we just released some Houdini videos last week.
You can view all of them in our training browser.
Thanks,
Papa

I would agree with bravo2zero on MEL or Python training, something more advanced would be fantastic as the current kits are designed for getting sstarted with scripting, more practical or project based kits would be incredibly helpful.

I'm looking further what is to be released regarding Houdini. What are all people crazy about XSI new ICE. It is a still infant copy of the VOPs, ...what ICE is doing today Houdini was able to do 10 years ago. But I guess it's just marketing and promoting the software. I'm sure XSI will get fast well known because of the "groundbreaking ICE" and Houdini will not. Anyway my point is that there should be paid more attention to Houdini, because it simply blows every other app around. And I can't see why not, because now it has an interface and buttons and icons...and things get done more intuitively. It is more friendly and more attractive to users who are willing to buy tutorials. Thank you for listening DT staff ! Hope that with this post I will hurry a bit the release of the upcoming Houdini materials :) :bow

Thats great.
I bought the Houdini Dynamics and I know the basics of simulation. Its the 'beauty' part where I am totally stuck at. How do they make the finished effects (within Houdini of course)? The tutorials I have focus more on the R&D rather then the finishing. I know it has something to do with the shader, but its difficult for me to figure it out :(
I do realise Houdini is not exactly the star program of this website and I really do appreciate the effort in coming out with Houdini tutorials
I know your website is also famous for project based tutorials. I wonder if this is feasible for houdini effects?
Cheers

May I add an observation here ...? Someone said in another topic regarding Houdini that DT always keeps releasing tutorials covering basic and introduction things, especially modeling stuff. There are tons of modeling stuff here and I guess anyone by now knows how to model. They don't need to model different types of cars, motorcylces, BluRay devices or Army Knives to learn how to model and adapt the techniques. Once you know the tools it's very easy. I learned modeling by watching a single tutorial about human anatomy, muscles flow and organic stuff. And what I do often is technical and architectural stuff. So what I want to say is that DT staff should concentrate about more advanced stuff, more particular, more project & production based. Regarding Houdini I think there should be more tutorials covering from basic to expert techniques for use in production. (rigging organic with muscles over bones, or technical rigging, character animation interacting with a scene with other animated objects or effects, advanced rendering for production, shaders, quality photorealistic renderings, you get the ideea...). But maybe the simple things sell better and the majority prefer more and more basic stuff. In understand that maybe Houdini stuff doesn't sell as much as Maya's and the need for basic stuff in the begining, but there is more need covering so much requested aspects that are considered advanced, and the people asking them are for production and professional use. Maya is oversaturated, Houdini is so much underdocumented and the few people who knows it are working in big house studios and the knowledge does not pass through others. So I hope DT listens and will release more and more Houdini materials in the near future and not just introduction basic stuff. Houdini is the future now !

Yes, miaitza is right.
Please STOP the modeling, basic stuff.
That is way too much!
There are so many other things that would be much more important to do this to learn.
Rigging (Technical), Shading, photoreal rendering.
- or custom stuff, especially in houdini.
- custom tools in houdini, made with VEX.
- a VEX DVD would be great!!
- a technical DVD VEX in which each node is described in detail, like "mental ray Nodes Online Reference Library"
or "ICE Nodes Reference Library"
so, it would be nice = VEX Reference Lirary ;)
(Examples of what VEX everything is possible.)
- custom shading in VEX
- VFX in Houdini (a technical VFX DVD)
That would be nice if you could a lot of these DVDs produce. :)

I would love a ZBrush -> Houdini 10 -> Tourque 3D workflow DVD, for people who are interested in game design! Like me :) I am new to all of these applications, but I am trying to learn them! I find the amount of information over whelming sometimes! So it would be nice to see something like that to help us get a good understanding of the workflow involved with getting your assets from one app to another!
