Just wanted to give a couple words for the new FBX plugin from Daz3d for their daz|studio program. First it works great. brings in the mesh, skelaton and weighted maps, along with all texture maps. Also any morph that has a non-zero value comes in as a blend shape. The import takes a while but in the long run it's very worth it.

I have some issues that arise. One how can you create and link a low poly version of the model for animation work. the meshes are very high polys.

I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to covert the clothing for poser into maya cloth, any one have any experiance or thoughs on this.

Along that same line, the cothing comes into maya with it's own skelaton, what would be the best method to link the clothing skelatons with the figures skelaton, or would there be a better method of making the clothing "conform" to the figures movements?

Thanks

Hello,
Indeed the fbx format allow mesh, skin, rigg and animation to be used from Daz to Maya (or motiojn builder).
However, if you try to export the Mouthshape (make your carracter talk), you can encount problem, for exemple only the "TH" and the "M" shape can be exported from Daz3D and read into maya (and MB) as blendshape. (Or I got bug)
