Image Planes - Slow and blurred

Hi,
When i add an image plane into maya the side/top views run VERY slowly. I've tried turning off hardware acceloration but it hasn't helped. As well as ebing slow the view becomes very fuzzy/blurred . Any help much appreciated.

How large is your image? Sounds like its a huge image that's bogging down your graphics card.

The image is about 46kb.

Try to reduce the size of the image, and turn them into a jpeg.
About the images getting blurred; Danlefeb is right. That's most likely the graphic card causing the problem. What are you using? Maya needs the highest 32 bits color quality.

Go to the install directory of maya and look for maya.env (there may also be another one in your "my document\maya" folder), open the file and add the following line:

MAYA_SLOW_DRAWPIXELS = 1
