Hi I recently bought introduction to maya second edition and I love it!
Now I want to buy more tutorials from dt for maya like tutorials about rendering. unfortunately those tutorials are for version 6 or lower of maya. And I am using version 7 in which I think there are new render techniques (like image based lighting made easy)
Can you tell me if you are working on new versions of these tutorials for maya 7 ?
Thanks in advance!

As far as rendering techniques go, very little has changed in the last couple versions of Maya. You should have no problem at all following with any of the DT kits on lighting or rendering.

thanks for your reactions, still I wonder if there will be a new version on rendering for maya 7 soon or not. I can wait a while, but if not I think of buying this version.
I also noticed the renderman tutorial for maya 7.
Can you explain me the differences between renderman and mental ray?
Thank you very much!

Hi there fritsjan,
the main difference between renderman and mental ray is that RFM is six to ten times faster then mental ray, however, depending on how many licenses you have bought for mental ray RFM is only restricted to using one processor

Hit -- (minus) on your numeric keyboard and the manipulator will become shorter, hit + (plus) and its size will increase. Hope that helps.
