Hey!
I was just wondering if you guys were planning on releasing an advanced or intermediate version of your RenderMan for Maya training anytime soon?
Thanks,
Ryan
Yep, It is on our schedule. I can't give a date of release but we are in progress on it.

I will be the second. Can you guys try to get it out before the end of September (So I can still get the student discount before I graduate ;) )
Are you guys up for some opinions on what I would like to see in the kit?
Great (LOL)
Some more RSL, the bit you guys had in the last one made me want to know more. I have been reading books, but it just isn't the same as someone walking through it and showing what things mean and do. Even if it was just one complex shader that is written from start to finish would be great.
Some more on the passes. I still can't get over all the settings. Like prerender mel.
I would also like to see some training on PRMAN, and RAT, but as a different training bundle. Something that goes over Slim, Irma, Alfred, mainly focusing on Slim since Alfred and Irma are relatively straight forward.
We do have some more coming out soon. We are just waiting for v.2 to be released.

Pixar announced it not a few days ago.

(RfM info is in the middle)
MULTI-THREADED RENDERING! Heck yes. Renderman was fast before, but now it will be even better for rendering those fast test renders. Self shadowed, motion-blurred particles here I come...
I was watching this bad boy for some time, now I'm going to have to buy it. My poor, poor, wallet!

Pixar will also reveal RenderMan for Maya 2.0, the latest version of Pixar’s acclaimed Maya rendering plugin bringing RenderMan’s peerless feature film quality to all Maya artists. Version 2.0 incorporates multiple enhancements including multi-threading, ray-tracing optimizations, and Maya 8 compatibility. In addition, from the first day of the SIGGRAPH 2006 tradeshow, all new purchasers of the current RenderMan for Maya 1.2 will be offered a free upgrade to version 2.0 when it is released later in 2006.
Still no official date  Ohh well I guess I can pretend to be patient.
Renderman Studio sounds pretty powerful, being able to do everything the hiEnd PRman can do and still render in Maya and export RIB's. I think it is time for me to crack the books and learn some hardcore RSL.

Since everything is going to be done through Renderman studio and no more MtoR or Slim, can we expect some killer renderman studio training to hit the shelves the same week it is released????
It sounds like this is integrating everything, RFM, RIB and PRMAN all in one package. I can't wait to have RFM standalone multithreaded so I don't have to have maya running when rendering.
