Hello, I'm Justin and I'm excited to be able to take you through the process of modeling Maya 2012. I've been building models in Maya professionally for about nine years or so. And I've been fortunate to be able to work on variety of different projects-- from video games, to children's animation, to feature films. Now modeling is an important part of creating our finished project. Without any models there's really nothing to animate or light or render. Maya 2012 provides a number of tools that will make building models efficient, fun, and we'll explore many of them in a well-paced easy to learn way. For our example, we'll be building this retro jet. Now if you're just starting out, this may look a little complex. But we'll break it down into manageable chunks that will enable you to build up the model step by step. Now your airship may not look exactly like mine. And that's fine. The point is that you get to look at the tools being used and are able to integrate them into your own workflow. So just play around and have some fun. So let's go ahead and get started in the next lesson, building our airship.
