In this 3ds Max tutorial we'll cover a wide range of topics in order to get you quickly up to speed using 3ds Max 2011.
In this tutorial we are going to help you get a good understanding of how to work in 3ds Max. You will be able to learn from several of the instructors here at Digital Tutors as we go through many of the major parts of the software. We are going to cover a wide range of topics in this course. We will start out exploring the user interface and finding our way around 3ds Max. Then we will start to create our own custom model, a pod racer, using a number of powerful modeling tools. We will paint and texture our model, and then take it through the process of rigging and animation. We will finish up by adding dynamic effects to the scene and rendering out a nice result. Once you are finished, you will have exposure to a wide range of disciplines in 3ds Max and be able to start working on your own projects and building on the knowledge you have gained.
Hello, it's Justin again, and in this section I'm really excited to be able to take you through the modeling process in 3ds Max, 2011. Now, I've been building models professionally for a little over eight years and I've had the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects, from things like video games, to children's animation, to feature films, and modeling is really a vital part of creating our finished pieces, whatever they are. And without models we have nothing to animate or light or-- you kind of get the picture. So 3ds Max has a variety of tools that will make building models a quick process, and also a lot of fun. We'll go through many of these tools and techniques in a well paced, easy to learn way. Now, for our project we're going to be building this racer. So, it might look a little daunting if you're just starting out but we'll break things down into more manageable chunks that will really enable you to, kind of, methodically build up the model. So, your racer may not look just like mine, and that's perfectly fine, the point really is that you understand the tools that we're using and that you're able to integrate those into your own workload, so really, just have some fun. So, with that, let's go ahead and get started.
