What you will learn
In this tutorial we will learn how to create a post-apocalyptic scene using the powerful 3D space and projection techniques in NUKEX.
Throughout these lessons we will go over how to composite elements such as fire and smoke, and make them as real as possible. We will be using the powerful 3D system in NUKE to position these elements properly. We are going to create a whole new environment within our scene. We will then export our camera to Maya and set up our scene and effects. You will learn new techniques in this course, as well as the skills it takes to work faster as a compositor.

All right everybody, welcome back to this lesson. In this lesson we're going to create more fire and more smoke, and we're going to put it in the right 3D space, just like this one. In this one, I just worked a little bit more on the integration of the fire and the smoke. What I've done, I've begun with a saturation. Yes, I begun with a saturation of 0.6. Then I apply the glow. And then I grade it down. And then I just plugged it in my card and every time, as we've done in the previous lesson. And I just moved it over here, and the other fire, put it behind the other one, so it's more intense. And what I've also done, I did the same thing what I've done with the fire, I duplicate it, put it in the right 3D space, move it up a little bit, and put it over time. So just the same stuff as I've done here. I also want more smoke and fire, so I'm going to create a fire over here. With my camera trigger selected and my viewer and my sky replacement, now I have all my points, which I can choose from. Over here there's an error of 0.2, which is great, and I'm going to create a card. And here we have our card, and I'm going to duplicate my fire. I'm going to offset it 60 frames, so it doesn't behave the same as the old one. As you can see from frame one, it's like this. And frame one of the other is like this. I'm going to merge and copy the same roto. And I'm going to copy the same grading. And now I'm going to plug it in my card and plug it in [? my merge GO. ?] Now we've got our fire over here. And as you can see, it is still not on the right 3D space. So what I'm doing over here, I'm going to my scene, going to my card, and as you see our ground over here is at this point. So we're going to move it up, scale down, and kill our rotations and our white zone 90, so it's facing the camera. So if you want to look at our [? cam adm, ?] let's kill our tracker points. You can really-- I don't think you can see it, but we have our fire and our smoke on the ground. So what I'm going to do over here, I'm going field my merge. And here we go, we've got our fire. That's great. And as you can see, if you put a lot of fire and smoke, we're really going to have this really epic look. So what I'm going to do-- same thing-- I'm going to put smoke. But first I'm going to rotate it a little bit better, so I'm going to my card. Going to my X, and I'm going to rotate a little bit. Maybe something like this, same thing for my [INAUDIBLE], and I'm going to rotate it. So it's flat on the ground, and I can move it, as long I know my right [? caron ?] plane and where to rotate it from. So I already got two fires. And if you want more, it's really easy. Let's do it again. Just for you all to see how easy this is just to put fire and smoke in your shot and make it as epic as you want. You can put fire all over the place. You can even put fire on these buildings. Over here, you can put fire, and make it everything. With all these points, you have so much freedom, you can do whatever you want. So I'm going to put another fire. And I'm going to show you something easy first. So we get our fire and smoke. And now we want smoke on the same 3D space. Easy stuff. Copy this section. Nope. We don't have to do that. We can just copy or record and just plug it over here. And now, if we look close, we got our smoke. We just have to reposition it better. Go to your scene. Go to my default camera. And move it up. We know it's from the right side, so what are you we going to do. Move it back. Scale it up. And here we go. We got our smoke. Yeah, so easy. So you don't have to copy your whole smoke. You can put in here. Create a card. You can just get as much as cards as you want and just plug it in here. The reason why I've done it for this section is because there's an offset of 60 frames, so it doesn't behave the same as this one. So we notice that it's different. So as you can see, we got our fire and smoke. And we are also going to destroy these buildings. So in the next lesson, I will give you all the freedom to create more fire and smoke, and we're going focus to destroy these buildings. All right, see you in the next lesson.
